Sailing
The Senior School sailing season involves up to 24 sailors, sailing in teams paired in small dinghies. Sailors of any grade and ability can compete. In a compact season in spring, athletes learn the basics of sailing through theory and on-the-water practices, including boat terms, principles of sailing, and plenty of racing techniques. The two regattas are designed to pitch local Victoria schools together in the Discovery Cup regatta in the middle of May, and then against schools from across southern Vancouver Island in the Championship regatta in early June.
SMUS program includes:
- Proximity to a superb sailing facility at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club and safe, protected Cadboro Bay.
- Excellent equipment so that students can compete at the highest level and try new events
- Coaching from local sailing experts, including provincial and regional sailing champions.
