Last Spring, the St. Michaels University School Board of Governors announced the appointment of Dr. Jeff Aitken as the new Head of School, starting August 2025. After a global search, the Board unanimously chose Jeff to be the school’s next leader.
Over the summer, Jeff made his first visit to SMUS and toured both the Richmond Road and Victoria Drive campuses. As students and families were off for summer break, Jeff sat down to share his thoughts on joining the school and a bit more about his approach and philosophies as a Head of School.
Jeff, born and raised in Toronto, Canada, holds a Bachelor of Arts (English/Theatre) from the University of Windsor, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Strathclyde, a Masters of Education from the University of Manchester and a PhD in Education from Birmingham City University. Jeff also has a Certificate in Educational Leadership from Harvard Business School. Come August of 2025, Jeff will also be joined in Victoria by his wife, Mariana and their two children, Nicholas and Alexander.
