Senior School Peer Support
You'll make friends with students from all over the world as part of our vibrant and caring school environment.
You’ll become a member of our community in and out of the classroom and build lasting friendships at SMUS. As a boarding school, our community is truly international – we have 39 nationalities represented on campus!
The teachers will know you on such a personal level, too, that you’ll want to keep in touch with them after graduation. At SMUS, you can be who you are – no matter your faith, orientation or background – and pursue your passions and interests with like-minded people. Everyone here wants to see you grow and succeed.
Getting support from people who really understand what you are going through is essential, and at SMUS, students are empowered to support their schoolmates in a variety of ways.
"If one thing is certain, it is that you will always have a friend here. Everyone is rooting for your success. I've never met such an open-minded and inclusive group of people than the teachers and students at this school, all of whom are a constant source of laughter and insight." — Sean from Kamloops, BC
Prefect Council
School prefects are responsible for fostering school spirit and setting the tone of the school through their actions. Acting as a liaison between the student body and faculty, prefects are Grade 12 leaders who can help you navigate the school community and bring your ideas forward. Prefects are role models to students of all ages, and work together to make the school community even better for everyone.
The Prefect Council is made up of two Head Prefects and 16 other prefects – day and boarding students – who are elected by their peers and SMUS faculty to take on these important leadership roles.

Link Leaders
We feel it's important to make sure each student who joins our school is made to feel welcome and receives the right information and support as they adjust to a new school or a new phase of their SMUS education.
Link Leaders is our leadership and mentoring program that welcomes all new students to the Senior School and helps to make them feel comfortable and confident throughout their first year here. Link Leaders are enthusiastic Grade 12 students who'll be your role models, motivators, leaders and teachers here. You'll make real and lasting connections with our Link Leaders and they'll help ensure you have a successful first year at SMUS.
