It's hard for many of us to imagine St. Michaels University School without a musical theatre program.
The annual shows from our Senior School students, plus biennial performances from our Middle Schoolers and an alternating musical or opera at the Junior School, have become highlights for generations of students who've come through our doors.
The musical theatre program as we know it today began in 1983 at the Senior School. In the nearly four decades since, there have been 37 monumental shows put on by students, faculty and staff – with a 38th show just around the corner.
To celebrate our Jubilee year, marking 50 years since the amalgamation of our two founding schools, this year's musical is SMUS Revue '22. The show features more than 40 songs from a variety of hit Broadway shows, in addition to songs from a number of previously staged SMUS musicals.
We've scoured the SMUS archival collection to unearth videos and photos from the past four decades of musicals to share the video below. We hope you enjoy reliving the musicals of years past, and we look forward to continuing to provide decades more of amazing performing arts opportunities for current and future students.
