On May 4, a group of talented Middle School students represented our school at Simon Fraser University in the provincial level of the Concours d'art oratoire competition. The Concours d'art oratoire is a French public speaking event.
SMUS students have participated in the competition for more than decade, as our school recognizes the importance of multilingualism and the confidence that comes from speaking to an audience.
At the provincial competition, Grade 6 student Bianca T. and Grade 8 student Samantha Y. each presented their French speeches brilliantly, coming in first place and third place, respectively, in their categories.
Watch Bianca's speech, "Le Défilé des Manchots" (or The Penguin Parade), above. You can watch Samantha's speech, "Le Bilinguisme" (or Bilingualism), below.
Congratulations to all of our French language students!
