I am excited to inform our community of the launch of a heritage-related campaign to raise $200,000 to help us renovate the iconic Wenman Pavilion on our Richmond Road campus. As an important element of our current Annual Appeal, we will be making improvements to this highly visible and identifiable building which will both make it usable again and better than before. Parts of this building have become unsafe and unusable, and this appeal will address that and more.
You will see from the image that we will adding gorgeous new viewing patios, expanded interior gathering spaces and glass sliding doors on the upper level. In addition, the project will better serve all athletes and visitors using our fields by way of renovations to the student change facilities, showers and lockers on the lower level. Importantly the main rear access will be made safe and fully accessible and will be attractively landscaped. We also wish to add a multi-sport score board to allow the Pavilion to be used for all sports on the field.
Even more exciting is a wonderfully generous challenge gift from Tom Rigos ’61 in the amount of $50,000. Tom wants other alumni to match his gift and ensure the success of the overall fundraising goal by the end of this year. Will you help us achieve this inspiring goal? Please make your gift online now. If you are a resident of the US, please use the specific US Resident form to make your gift.
In the coming weeks you will be hearing more from the President and Vice President of the Alumni Association about some other ideas they have for using the renovated space for the benefit of our visiting alumni. In the meantime, I hope you will consider making your own gift, large or small, to this important campaign by December 31, 2021.
PS: Remember gifts received by December 31 from Canadian or US residents will be eligible for a tax receipt, which may reduce the cost to you of your gift.
