The Middle School Sustainability Council wrapped up a sun-filled, action-packed Earth Week, Apr. 22-25, celebrating our planet and encouraging our community to take steps toward a more sustainable future.
We kicked off the week with our 5th annual Sustainable Transport to School Week (STTSW). With record numbers of students and teachers choosing greener methods—walking, biking, busing, and carpooling—we collectively reduced our carbon footprint and raised awareness about the environmental impact of our daily habits.
Throughout the week, Grade 6, 7 and 8 students took the lead in organizing and running a variety of Earth Week activities.
Highlights included:
-
A special Earth-themed Chapel in collaboration with the Senior School Green Team, focusing on Indigenous ways of caring for the Earth and Sustainable projects across our campuses, many of which are student-driven.
-
Creative activities like rock painting and tie-dye using eco-friendly materials.
-
Delicious, locally sourced snacks from Sage to promote sustainable food choices.
-
Parachute games which encourage community connection and outdoor fun.
-
An engaging Assembly and Earth Trivia that sparked curiosity and shared important environmental facts.
A huge thank you to all students, staff, and families who participated and helped make Earth Week such a success. Your energy, creativity, and commitment remind us that small actions can lead to meaningful change.
Together, we are taking steps—big and small—toward a healthier planet.
