SMUS is delighted to welcome four talented educators to our faculty this school year. They bring a wide variety of expertise and teaching experiences to our school, including in English, French, physical education, drama, outdoor education and visual art.
We are lucky to have this amazing group of teachers join our community, and we look forward to seeing them work with our students.
BoBo Lynch
BA (Hons), LLB, MEd, PGCE (Cantab)
BoBo Lynch will join the Senior School English department this year. Born in Pakistan, BoBo was raised in Texas and Abu Dhabi, and attended boarding school in St Andrews, Scotland. BoBo stayed in the United Kingdom to attend university, earning two bachelor's degrees, a master's degree in educational studies, and a postgraduate certificate in education in English and drama. BoBo worked as an environmental lawyer in China and Pakistan before moving into teaching English and drama at schools in England, China, Pakistan and Canada. BoBo is looking forward to starting the school year and meeting the members of our community.
Emily Reid
BA, BEd, MA
Emily Reid joins us as an associate teacher at our Junior School. Born and raised near Orillia, Ontario, Emily remained in Ontario for university. She studied kinesiology and education, earning two bachelor's degrees and her master's degree. She has spent the last seven years working in physical and health education, and outdoor education at an independent school in Calgary. She says she is looking forward to beginning "a new adventure living in Victoria and [being] part of the SMUS community. I love connection and being part of a school that feels like a family." Outside of school, Emily loves to be outdoors: running, mountain biking, skiing and hiking.
Tamara Rusnak '90
BA, BEd, MFA
Tamara Rusnak ’90 is a SMUS alum who first joined our community in Grade 8. This year she returns to campus to teach French at the Senior School. After graduating from SMUS, Tamara earned a double major in French and studio art at the University of British Columbia, before pursuing her Bachelor of Education in French as a second language, and later a master's degree in visual art. Through her career, she has taught French, art and arts education at the elementary, high school and post-secondary levels in BC and Saskatchewan. Outside of work, Tamara is a visual artist and she loves to travel, particularly to France. She says she looks forward to "reconnecting with some of my former classmates. I also think it is great that I will be teaching alongside [Laura] Keziere, who was my homeroom teacher when I was at SMUS."
Caitlin Tamane
BEd
Caitlin Tamane will join our Junior School community in September as an associate teacher. Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario Caitlin attended Montreal’s McGill University to earn her Bachelor of Education degree, specializing in kindergarten/elementary education. She has spent her career teaching at an independent school in Ontario. She and her partner moved to Victoria in mid-March, and are excited to explore the outdoors on Vancouver Island. Caitlin says she is "really looking forward to meeting the students, teachers and parents" at SMUS when the school year begins.
