Financial aid plays a key part in our community. Supporting Financial Aid helps ensure that all deserving students have the opportunity to benefit from a SMUS education, regardless of financial circumstances.
In this series, we will share personal stories from alumni who were able to attend SMUS, in part thanks to generous donors who supported Financial Aid. It is their hope, and ours, that their experiences and gratitude will inspire others to support this important campaign and make the difference for deserving students today.
Quinn Ngawati ‘17
"As a SMUS alumnus, I will forever be indebted to the St. Michaels University School scholarship fund and specifically to Hugh McGillivray. Through the financial aid system, I was able to attend a local school steeped in tradition and received a deeper, more individualized education.
Beyond this first-class education, I feel I have benefited greatly from the out-of-classroom experiences SMUS offered me. Activities such as outtrips to the Gulf Islands kayaking, SALTS, and sporting events are what I look back on most fondly.
The school also helped instil values like respect, courage, and resilience, not only into my daily life, but into my sporting career, which allowed me to proudly represent my country all over the world. It has also prepared me for a life after sport, one I am very much looking forward to.
With each passing year as a SMUS alum, my gratitude and pride for the school – and especially the financial aid I received – increases. I am proud to say that my SMUS experience and education have helped shape me into the man I am today."
