This Thursday, the Junior Kindergarten classrooms were transformed into vibrant galleries for the Junior Kindergarten Art Showcase & Tea. Families were invited to explore the students’ art projects, thoughtfully displayed to highlight their growth and imagination this year.
The showcase featured an educational display on worms, complete with handcrafted clay worms created during a lesson on the creatures. A corner of the classroom was adorned with mushroom and forest-themed art, inspired by the students’ study of mushrooms—an exploration that even included an attempt to grow mushrooms in class!
Families admired tissue paper stained glass pieces, now hanging in the windows, adding a colourful glow to the classrooms. A newly introduced beading station was another highlight, where students have enjoyed working collaboratively on beadwork.
Prominently displayed on the walls were self-portraits created by each student, accompanied by their photos. This project will be an ongoing exercise, with students revisiting their portraits in the new year to reflect on how they’ve grown and changed.
The event also included a festive holiday ornament crafting activity, bringing families together in the spirit of the season. The JK Art Showcase & Tea was a joyful celebration of creativity and the unique talents of our youngest learners.
