Neil was born in the UK, raised in Powell River, and attended SMUS as a boarder. He earned his BA in History and Economics at the University of Victoria, followed by his Law Degree at UBC. After articling in Richmond, he was called to the BC Bar in 1997. Now a partner at McQuarrie Hunter, LLP, Neil specializes in commercial trial and appellate litigation. As a senior litigator and a trial specialist, Neil acts as a mentor to several junior associates and articled students, helping to develop the next generation of trial counsel in the Lower Mainland.
Neil and his wife, Carolynn, live in Delta, BC with their six children, including proud SMUS alumni Caitlin ’19. In his limited spare time, he enjoys photography, camping, fishing and off-roading while exploring his long-standing fascination with the history of British Columbia.
In more recent years, Neil has been drawn back to SMUS as a director, and currently as President of the SMUS Alumni Association and an ex-officio member of the Board. He presently serves on the Governance, Nominations, and Advancement committees.
